Before every home football game, our Saturday Science Exploration Series is sure to inspire a fascination with our world as visitors learn about our innovative approach to science.
Saturdays with the Saints
Now you can spend one hour with the saints before the game on selected weekends this fall at Saturdays with the Saints. Come nourish your Catholic faith and your mind at the same time with talks by distinguished members of the Notre Dame faculty.
Coach Kelly and the Irish football team arrive at the Gug on Saturday afternoons for final preparations before taking the field at Notre Dame Stadium. After the team walks from the Gug to the Hesburgh Library, they proceed south toward the Stadium, and enter the house that Rockne built through the North Tunnel gates.
The Player Walk takes place 2 hours and 15 minutes before kickoff.
- Fans may enter the Stadium 90 minutes prior to kickoff and are welcome to catch pregame warm-ups on the field.
- Warm-ups start approximately one hour before kickoff.
- Get to the Stadium early to see the players work with their position coaches to get ready for their opponent!
Students stand throughout the entire game, screaming along with every cheer, dancing the jig, or doing push-ups matching the Irish score on every touchdown to show support for their classmates on the field. Whether the Irish are up on their opponent or down, Notre Dame students provide their full support until beyond when the clock hits zero. Notre Dame students take their football seriously and make their presence known at home games. The student section stands in the northwest corner of the stadium, where field pads read, "We Are ND." Most students wear The Shirt making the student section appear as a sea of green, blue, or gold depending on the Shirt's color.
Win or lose, the student body will still be there at the end of every Notre Dame home game to honor their classmates on the field. Students stay in the stands until the team leaves the field, no matter the result. Go Irish!
At the conclusion of each game, the team approaches the student section to sing the Alma Mater together. As the Notre Dame band begins to play, fans and the team put their arms around each other and sway arm-in-arm as they sing.
After every win, the Irish Guard perform their traditional Victory Clog for fans before they join the band to leave the field.
Watch the Notre Dame Band trumpet section play ND favorites in front of the Main Building at 12:30pm on game days!
