Notre Dame 2017 Pre-Season Events and 45 day Temple Countdown

August 20th

On Sunday, August 20th, all are invited to join us at the New & Gold Game. The gates will open at 2:00 p.m. at Notre Dame Stadium with a simulation of our Game Day experience including a Fighting Irish scrimmage at 3:30 p.m., a performance by the Notre Dame Marching Band, and participation from the Notre Dame cheerleaders. The event is free with general admission seating.

Self-guided tours will be held from 2:00 - 6:00 p.m. on a first-come, first-served basis. Here is additional information for tours of portions of three new buildings:

  • Duncan Student Center (the building located on the west side of the stadium)
    • Line up at Door 14 on the south side exterior of the building.
    • Guests who are already in the stadium can also participate in the Duncan Student Center tours by lining up on the first floor of concourse near sections 28-31.
      • Elevators will take guests to the Dahnke Ballroom on the seventh floor and the Rasmus Family Club on the eighth floor where they can view the premium seats and views of campus.
  • Corbett Family Hall (the east building)
    • Line up on the south side exterior of the building at Door 4.
    • There will be no stadium concourse access for tours of Corbett Family Hall.
      • Elevators will take guests to the Downes Club on the seventh floor and Level 8.
  • O’Neill Hall (the south building) 
    • Tours of O’Neill Hall will begin on the upper concourse (fourth floor) on the south side of the stadium underneath the video board.
      • Guests will be able to view South Club.

Attendees at the New & Gold Game will also have the opportunity to experience the latest Notre Dame Stadium enhancements including new and wider seating throughout the bowl; the addition of a Diamond Vision high-definition video board and sideline ribbon video boards; upgraded concession stands and restroom facilities; a 1930s art deco look added to the main concourse; the addition of nearly 150 television monitors throughout the concourse; new historical displays at Gate C honoring Irish football standouts; and improved cellular and Wi-Fi coverage.

Food will be available for purchase at some stadium concession stands. Tailgating is prohibited prior to and during the New & Gold Game. Free parking and shuttles will be available across campus. The event will be held rain or shine. The University’s stadium bag policy and other game day policies will be in place. 

August 25th

On Friday, August 25, Notre Dame will welcome students back to campus and open the stadium again to all for a Flick on the Field, an open house event featuring a showing of “Rudy” on the new video board.

Prior to the movie, fans will be entertained by music and can make purchases at some of the stadium concessions stands. Students from Notre Dame, Saint Mary’s College, and Holy Cross College will be allowed to sit on the football field to watch the movie. Students are permitted to bring blankets on the field, but food and drinks on the field are prohibited. Other attendees may sit in the stadium bowl for this free event with general admission seating. The event will be held rain or shine. The University’s stadium bag policy and other game day policies will be in place. 

  • Gates will open at 6:00 p.m.
    • Guests should use Gates B and E for free, general admission seating.
    • Students must enter the stadium via the tunnel entrance (across from Hesburgh Library) for access to the field.
      • "Rudy" will begin at 7:30 p.m. on our new videoboard.

Here Come the Irish

The countdown continues for the Fighting Irish to return to Notre Dame Stadium and the completion of our three-year Campus Crossroads Project. There are only 45 days until the 2017 home season opener here in South Bend on September 2nd versus Temple.
