Notre Dame concluded a historic run that saw the Irish go an undefeated 12-0 during the regular season. The 125 year of Notre Dame football ended at the BCS National Championship with a loss to defending national champion, Alabama, 42-14.

The historic season began in Dublin, Ireland and ended in Miami, Florida. Fans watched the Irish defeat arch-rivals, dramatic wins sealed by goal-line stands and go a perfect 12-0 in the regular season.

Notre Dame’s bid for a 12th consensus national title ended a step short, but coach Brian Kelly expects 15 returning starters to be able to show the way in 2013.

All we know is that August 31 can’t come soon enough! Go Irish!
