2012 Olympians to be Honored this Weekend

Following a successful trip to the 2012 London Olympics, twelve Olympians that represented their country and Notre Dame will be honored during this weekend’s festivities. The Olympians brought back five medals from the Games, including Shannon Boxx with a gold in women’s soccer.

On Friday, the Olympians will be honored during the pep rally that will be held in Purcell Pavilion at 5 p.m. Saturday morning, the Olympians will be available to meet and sign autographs at the the Notre Dame Fan Experience presented by Ford in the north dome of the Joyce Center from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Commemorative Notre Dame Olympians posters will be handed out during the autograph session. During Saturday’s game, the group will participate in the flag ceremony with Boxx as the official flag bearer.

Gerek Meinhardt – USA, Fencing (Team Foil)
Selim Nurudeen – Nigeria, 110-Meter High Hurdles
Amanda Polk – USA, Rowing – Alternate
Mary Saxer - USA, Pole Vault – Alternate
Melissa Tancredi (bronze medal) – Canada , Soccer
Mariel Zagunis – USA, Fencing (Individual Sabre)

Not able to return:
