Inflammation and Cancer: Understanding how to design better treatment regimens

Pancreatic cancer has a 5-year survival rate of only 6%. Inflammation can account for up to 90% of the tumor bulk and is believed to serve as a physical impediment to effective pharmacological treatment. This talk will cover how the use of novel animal models and newly-established assay systems help us to understand how inflammation contributes to the most important aspects of cancer: initiation, progression, and therapeutic resistance.
